A motorcyclist is in hospital with serious injuries after a collision with a Tesla driver.

On Sunday just before 4 p.m., North Vancouver RCMP said they received multiple reports of a collision involving a motorcyclist and vehicle at the intersection of Lonsdale Avenue and 14th Street.

It’s alleged that the motorcyclist was travelling northbound on Lonsdale when they were struck by the driver of a white Tesla attempting to make a left turn onto 14th Street, police said in a written statement.

“Several bystanders rushed to help the motorcyclist, who sustained serious, potentially life-altering injuries and was transported to the hospital by paramedics,” police said.

Lonsdale Avenue and 14th Street were partially closed for several hours Sunday evening while Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (ICARS) analyzed the scene and gathered evidence.

“We are appealing to any witnesses who may have captured dash cam footage of this incident, specifically vehicles travelling north or south on Lonsdale Avenue between 3:45 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. on June 15,” said Cpl. Mansoor Sahak, North Vancouver RCMP spokesperson.

Investigators are also looking to speak with the driver of a second white Tesla that was seen travelling southbound on Lonsdale just before the collision.

“The vehicle’s dash cam may contain crucial footage that could assist in the investigation,” police said.

Anyone with video or who was a witness to the crash and hasn’t yet spoken to police are asked to call 604-985-1311 and quote file #25-12226.

Police also commended the bystanders who rushed to help the motorcyclist, Sahak said.

He added that the incident was traumatic for many of the witnesses.

“This was a traumatic incident for multiple individuals who were there,” he said. “If they are affected, they can contact victim services to speak with someone.”
