ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappIdol ready to be crowned

Local singing talent on display at Downtown ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappevent

The auditions are all done and now it's time for the cream to rise to the top at the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappIdol event on Saturday (Sept. 14).

Pavilion Park will be transformed into an outdoor concert hall and some of the top singing talent in ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappwill battle head to head for a $500 prize.

The free event kicks off at 6 p.m. with a performance from ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappNation Welh Tima Kexwusem Dance Group. They'll be followed by a showcase for competitors aged 15 and under and then the 16-and-up adult category, where the winner will receive $500 and community bragging rights.

The event is presented in partnership with the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappAcademy of Music and the Howe Sound Performing Arts Association, along with the District of Squamish. ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappIdol was created to be linked with the Downtown ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappSummer Series as part of the Downtown ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappTransformation Initiative.
