The arrows are set to fly at the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵappElementary School field on Sunday (June 15).
The ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵappValley Rod and Gun Club (SVRGC) is hosting the Junior Olympic Program Regional Outdoor Archery tournament that will feature children, pre-teens and teenagers taking on the targets.
Archers shoot a total of 30 arrows at the 122-centimetre target for a total of three rounds. Distance from the target depends on age and participants move 10 metres closer to the target for each round.
The event is a part of the British Columbia Archery Association’s outdoor regional series and the series concludes in Quesnel on June 22. Following that is the B.C. outdoor championships in Prince George on Aug. 30 and 31.
It all gets underway at 9 a.m. on Sunday with practice shots and the first scoring arrow is set to fly at 10 a.m. For more information on local archery, visit www.svrgc.org/pages/archery.php.
