Atom A Eagles flying high

ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµapphockey teams look ahead to 2014

Heading into the 2014 calendar year, the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappEagles Atom A hockey team is sitting pretty.

The club is in first place in the Flight 4 of the GVC with a record of seven wins, one loss and two ties at the halfway point of the season.

They've posted 25 points and have a three-point lead over second-place Richmond. The Atom club also hosts an eight-team tournament Feb. 8 to 10 that will include teams from Merritt, Langley, Mission, Cloverdale and Vancouver Island.

Meanwhile, it was a tough tournament for the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappEagles Bantam A team in Burnaby over the Christmas holidays

The Bantam Eagles competed in the 52nd annual Burnaby Christmas Tournament and placed third in the Marino Division. ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappopened the tournament on Dec. 27 with an 8-4 loss to the Alaska Lions and lost to Surrey 17-2 later that day.

Round-robin action concluded for the Eagles on Dec. 28 with a 7-1 loss to Burnaby. Elimination games saw the Eagles lose 16-0 to South Delta and 6-3 to Burnaby. The tournament was won by the Burnaby Winter Club, who defeated Seafair 4-3 in the gold-medal game.
