Club hosting two clinics, Nationals in coming weeks

The final gasps of summer are scheduled to be a busy time for ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappBMX.

The group is organizing two clinics in the coming weeks featuring a pair of top-name riders and will also host the Sea to Sky Nationals event.

Dominique Daniels, six-time ABA/USABMX Elite Women's champion, will visit to ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappfor a clinic on Thursday (Aug. 22) from 5 to 8:30 p.m.

The Phoenix native has been featured on television shows such as ESPN SportsCentre and appeared on the cover of magazines like Cycling World. Daniels is not sponsored by a major company but by Grand Canyon University in Arizona, which also gave her a full scholarship.

She is also the first woman in BMX history to go from the No. 1-ranked amateur to the No. 1-ranked pro.

The clinics are run with her coach and father Tim Daniels and she offers tips and advice for young riders all across North America. The clinic costs $30 and is open to all ages and abilities.

Also coming to ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappis Cristian Becerine, former Olympian and 10-time Argentine champion, with his Free Agent Rockstar Clinic.

Clinics will cover the all the basics of BMX racing, coupled with training tips that each rider can do on their own at home.

There are two available sessions, with riders able to register for Sept. 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. or Sept. 7 from 10 a.m. to noon. Registration is $35 prior to the day of the clinic or $40 on the day of. Clinics include a goodie bag and there are additional prizes and giveaways available for outstanding clinic participants.

Similar to the Daniels clinic, those of all ages and abilities are invited to attend but it's recommended you have some experience in the BMX world and own the proper equipment.

The big event on the calendar for ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappBMX is the Sea to Sky Nationals, Sept. 13 to 15.

Nationals events attract close to 500 riders, including pros from all over North America. Riders range in age from two to 75 and the event is free for the public to check out.

Club races go down every Monday night for all ages and practices take place Thursday evenings. Anyone is allowed to participate provided they sign a waiver. Both the races and practices are free for all ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappBMX members.
