Two weeks into the North Shore Men’s Baseball Association (NSMBA) season, the Howe Sound Cannons still have yet to taste defeat.
After kicking off the season on May 3 with a pair of wins over the Cardinals, the Cannons hit the road and took down the Brewers 6-1 on Saturday (May 10).
Howe Sound was up 3-1 in the top of the sixth inning when Tor Purvis hit a bases-loaded single that scored two more runs and that proved to be the nail in the coffin. Cannons starting pitcher Jack Thompson allowed only one run over seven innings and struck out seven opposing batters.
Cannons leadoff man Matty Taylor had a multi-hit performance and was a difference maker in the win.
Howe Sound improved to three wins and no losses with the victory and is in first place in the NSMBA. The Cannons hit the road again on Thursday (May 15) when they take on the Reds in North Vancouver. The NSMBA takes the long weekend off and the Cannons will again battle the Reds in a doubleheader on May 24.
The next home game for the Cannons is on June 7 when the Brewers come to town for a doubleheader. For more details on the team, visit www.ballcharts.com/hscannons.
