Seafair got within one again at 4:03 of the third but 38 seconds later Chiyasu scored his second of the game to make it 5-3. In other ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵappMinor Hockey action, the Peewee Rep team split a pair of games over the weekend. The squad beat North Delta 5-2 on the road on Friday (Jan. 20) and dropped a 5-2 home decision to the North Shore Winter Club (NSWC) on Sunday (Jan. 22). The Peewee reps are the top-ranked team in their division, sporting a record of 11 wins, three losses and two ties.

In other minor hockey news, the Pacific Coast Amateur Hockey Association (PCAHA) announced on Sunday that it is outlawing body checking in all recreational leagues next season.

The resolution was passed by a vote of 123 to 39 and will be implemented at the start of the 2012-'13 season. The motion means that all house or "C" leagues will no longer be contact.

The PCAHA also voted to support a resolution at B.C. Hockey's June annual meeting intended to eliminate body checking at the PeeWee A level. The PeeWee age level, which is 11 to 12 years old, has traditionally been the first year in which contact has been prohibited.

In October, PCAHA Association presidents requested a review of issues related to body checking, including injury rates. A committee undertook this task and prepared a summary report, which was circulated in early December.

"I was impressed with how our member Associations dealt with this matter, and the seriousness and concern shown by the Associations delegates," Vanna Achtem, PCAHA president, said in a release. "They reviewed the committee report, consulted with their members, and focused on player safety and injury reduction."
