Squamish's Jason Loutitt continues to pound the pavement, gravel and dirt in long-distance races throughout the world.
It's been a busy August for the local endurance running athlete, with a second-place finish in the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵapp50 on Aug. 10 and followed with another second-place showing in the Edmonton Marathon on Aug. 25.
Loutitt also snagged a fifth-place finish in Whistler's Meet Your Maker 50-mile (80-kilometre) trail run on Sunday (Sept. 1). He jumped out to a fast start, leading the first leg but eventually succumbed to winner Jakub Sambera from Invermere.
It's all building up to the Run Rabbit Run 100-mile race in Steamboat Springs, Colo. on Sept. 13. The course features eight miles of paved road, 68 miles of trail and the remaining is considered "rough" jeep roads. The event features an ascent and descent of over 20,000 feet each way.
Loutitt said all of his travelling and competing could not be possible without the support of his local sponsors.
"The support I get from my sponsors help me make ends meet," he said.
Loutitt mentioned Bikram Yoga Sea to Sky, Mike Charuk at Reach Physio and Cortex Hypnosis as three groups that have stepped up and helped him compete all over North America.
