A brand new hockey development camp is set to launch in ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵappin April.
The Darkhorse hockey development camp, which will be run by the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵappMinor Hockey Association (SMHA), plans to provide hockey training for all youth aged five and up.
According to organizers, the goal of the camp is to expose local hockey players to instructors that excel in their areas of expertise. All groups will be capped to provide a good player and coach ratio and give participants a good bang for their buck.
Instructors for the camp include SMHA director of hockey operations Tim Knight, hockey skills instructor James Sullivan, coaching co-ordinator Robin Dietch, figure skating coach and fitness professional Dominique Turgeon, fitness expert Mischel Poitras and goaltending coach Troy Newport.
Kids will be divided by age groups and have sessions throughout the month of April with all the instructors. Knight will lead power skating sessions, Sullivan will work with players on stick handling, Dietch will help develop general hockey skills, Turgeon will train players on power skating, Poitras will work on players fitness and Newport will train the goalies.
Camps will be capped at 12 skaters and two goalies per age group. Early bird registration, which features a lower rate for all players, closes on Saturday (March 8) with overall registration closing on March 15.
