Seven Pirates off to Provincials

Successful regionals for local swim club sends several swimmers to Richmond

Several members of the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵappPirates swim club are heading to the provincials after a strong showing at the British Columbia Summer Swim Association (BCSSA) Regional Championships, which took place at the North Shore Winter Club on Aug. 6 and 7.

Seven Pirates in total are heading to Richmond for the provincials and head coach Allyson Corbett was pleased with the team's performance over the weekend.

"The Pirates swam fantastically at the regional championships and we qualified seven swimmers for the provincials," she told The Chief. "There were tons of best times all around and all of the swimmers made the coaching staff very proud - clearly all their hard work paid off for a lot of them this season."

Qualifying in individual races were Eli Chappell, Sarah Dale, Sierra Farr and Wyatt Pederson, while Luke Herron, KJ Kimura and Eric Aikens will be heading to Richmond on a relay team.

The provincials will kick off at Watermania in Richmond starting on Friday (Aug. 19) and lasting until Sunday (Aug. 21).
