Squamish’s Hunter Sones ended the 2014 biathlon series on a high note in Canmore in December.
Sones grabbed a silver and bronze medal at the North American Cup/Calforex Cup race series on Dec. 6 and 7 against some of the top young competition from around North America.
He earned the bronze on Dec. 6 in the Senior Boys 6 km sprint with a time of 19:35.9 and then picked up a silver on Dec. 7 in the Senior Boys 7.5 km mass sprint with a time of 28:23.2.
Sones is hoping to represent the Sea to Sky Corridor at the Biathlon National Championships held in Hinton, Alta. in March. He chose to compete at the National Championships instead of the upcoming Canada Winter Games event in February.
