Three men rose above their peers to claim victory at the recent running of the Whistler XFondo.
Jeremy Hewett prevailed in the 60-kilometre event by clocking two hours, 46 minutes and 56 seconds. The local bested second-placer Blake Startup (2:48:26) and Gary Robbins in third (2:53:59), while Marcie Kirby topped all other women in 19th overall (3:17:52).
Over in the 73km discipline, known informally as "Shlong" by XFondo enthusiasts, it was Erik Hauner triumphing (3:14:20) over Kyle Smith (3:19:30) and Jack Haining (3:20:31) in that order. Helena Sverak pushed to ninth overall, quickest among ladies (3:36:34).
Jason Rhodes emerged on top of the 43km race (2:32:53), and Ron Lehman held down runner-up spot (2:35:45). Samantha Hoft joined the men on the podium with a third-place finish (2:39:17).
