Swim team wraps up season

Top 20 finish for relay team at provincials

The B.C. School Sports provincial championship swim meet saw several local swimmers hit the pool in Richmond on Friday and Saturday (Nov. 16 and 17) to take on some of the best young swimmers in the province.

Athletes from Howe Sound Secondary School (HSSS) and Don Ross Secondary School (DRSS) made the trip and the top showing was an 18th-place finish for the 200-metre mixed medley relay team from HSSS.

The team, made up of Teaghen Healey, Wyatt Pedersen, Sarah Dale and Felix Muehler finished with a time of 2:23.35.

Individual competitors included: Pederson (22nd, 50 freestyle), Dale (25th, 50 freestyle) and DRSS student Autumn Cramb (29th, 50 butterfly). DRSS student Alex Jevons qualified for four races but could not compete because of an injury.

The provincials marked the end of the year for the swim team and team officials wanted to thank Dale, who also served as a coach for the team, and parent volunteers for helping out during the year.
