Squamish's Lauren Rosser is set to have a busy few days of competition at the 2011 UCI Mountain Bike and Trial World Championships at the end of the month.
Rosser qualified to compete in the Junior Women category for the cross country division but will also have the opportunity to defend her title in the Junior Women downhill competition at the event, which runs from Aug. 31 to Sept. 4 in Champery, Switzerland.
Two other locals will be racing downhill as Miranda Miller and Micayla Gatto will also be representing Canada in the Elite Women division.
Squamish's Neal Kindree will also take part, competing on the men's development team in the cross-country division.
In other local biking news, Team ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappmembers excelled at both the Western Canada Summer Games (WCSG) and the B.C. Provincial Championships, both of which took place this past weekend.
Quinn Moberg had a strong showing at the WCSG in Kamloops, competing in several different cycling events on Team B.C. Moberg finished ninth in the time trials on Thursday (Aug. 11), fourth in the road race on Friday (Aug. 12) and second in the cross country on Sunday (Aug. 14).
Several Team ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappmembers had good days at the B.C. Cup Provincial Championships, which took place in Mount Washington on Saturday (Aug. 13) and Sunday (Aug. 14).
Mikayla Martin kicked off the weekend by winning the cross country U15 female category, followed up by Rhys Verner, Luke Dimarzo and Ethan Toom completing a Team ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappsweep of the podium in the cross country U15 male division. The very next day saw Mason Moberg pick up first place in the U15 downhill competition, with Verner placing third and Dimarzo in fourth.
