It turned out to be one and done for both Dalton and Josh Thrower in the WHL playoffs.
Dalton and the Vancouver Giants were swept in Round 1 by the Portland Winterhawks after losing game four 6-1 in Vancouver on March 26.
It’s the final year of eligibility for Dalton in the WHL and it turned out to be a trying year for the Montreal Canadiens prospect. He didn’t appear in any Giants postseason games and battled an ankle injury for much of the year. The last time Dalton suited up for the Giants was back on Jan. 24.
Despite having missed 28 games, Dalton was sixth on the Giants in scoring with 39 points in 42 games. He was a +9 over the season and added eight power play goals.
It was also an early exit for Josh and the Tri-City Americans, who were eliminated in five games by the Kelowna Rockets. The Rockets clinched the series win with a 4-1 win on Friday (March 28).
Josh had six points in 62 games spread out between the Americans and the Calgary Hitmen. He also compiled 89 penalty minutes for the season.
Over in the BCHL, it was also a first-round dismissal for ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵappMinor Hockey Association (SMHA) product Malik Kaila. The Merritt Centennials defenceman saw his team lose in four to the Penticton Vees.
The postseason lasted a little longer for Jarid Lukosevicius and the Powell River Kings, as they defeated the Nanaimo Clippers in Round 1 but then lost in Round 2 to the Victoria Grizzlies.
Meanwhile, Brodyn Nielsen and the Whitecourt Wolverines of the Alberta Junior Hockey League were also sent home early in a first round loss to the Lloydminster Bobcats.
