ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappUnited ends metro league winning streak

Whistler continues to dominate the Howe Sound Men’s Soccer League (HSMSL) and punctuated that fact on Sunday (Nov. 2).

The first-place squad beat the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappGunners 12-0 to improve to five wins and no losses in league play, while the Gunners have the opposite record at zero wins and five losses.

Goal scorers for Whistler were: Peter Devlin (four), John Magill (four), Steve Phillips (two), Mark Freeman and Martin Gaspar.

In other HSMSL action, Sikh Temple and the Ellis Moving Eagles played to a 2-2 draw in the early game. Istvan Richter scored twice for Sikh Temple, with Chris Knight and Matt Rollinson replying for the Eagles.

Temple’s record stands at two wins, two losses and one tie and the Eagles have one win, four losses and one tie after Sunday’s result. HSMSL action resumes on Sunday (Nov. 9) with Whistler playing the Eagles and Galileo battling the Gunners.

Over in the Vancouver Metro Soccer League (VMSL), ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappUnited FC’s winning streak is officially over but the undefeated streak continues after the team played to a 2-2 draw with Bowen Island FC on Saturday (Nov. 1).

Squamish’s record sits at eight wins and one tie, and the team returns to the turf field at Brennan Park for another home game on Saturday (Nov. 8) when it hosts Arya FC. The two teams met in North Vancouver back on Sept. 7, with ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappdefeating Arya 9-0.
