Christmas Bazaar

The annual Christmas Bazaar sponsored by the Women's Auxiliary to ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappGeneral Hospital will be held tomorrow (Nov. 14) from 9:30 a.m. to noon in Trinity Hall, ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappUnited Church on Fourth Avenue.

The annual Christmas Bazaar sponsored by the Women's Auxiliary to ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappGeneral Hospital will be held tomorrow (Nov. 14) from 9:30 a.m. to noon in Trinity Hall, ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappUnited Church on Fourth Avenue.

Tables will display a variety of sewing, crafts and knitting and the ever-popular bake table will be laden with your favourite cakes, breads and cookies. Also, take time for a coffee and goodie. The Christmas raffle with the first prize being $350, second $250 and third $125 will be drawn at noon. All proceeds go towards medical equipment for the hospital.

Just recently, the Women's Auxiliary donated $10,000 towards the Dr. Kindree Memorial Fund for a CT Scan for the hospital.

ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappHistorical Society presents two original film productions on Saturday, Nov. 21 at the Adventure Theatre. First People of the Pacific Northwest will screen at 12:30 and 2:30 p.m., and ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappNation: Stories from the Heart is at 1 and 3 p.m. Admission is by donation. The Spirit of ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappconcert on Sunday (Nov. 15) at 3 p.m. in St. John's Anglican Church will feature our claim to fame entertainer Norm Foote and his daughter Maria. Many local music teachers and students will also perform. This event is sponsored by the Howe Sound Performing Arts Association and all proceeds will support the AME (Access Music Education) fund to provide education to local students who may not otherwise have access to it. Admission to the concert is by donation.

ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappBranch No. 70 Senior Citizens Association of British Columbia will hold their monthly luncheon at ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappManor on Third Avenue on Tuesday (Nov. 17) at noon. Please note, this month the lunch will be provided (not potluck) and following the meal, the business meeting will begin at 1 p.m. If you wish more information, please call June at 604-892-1574.

The Over the Hill Hikers are asked to meet at Ross and Government Roads on Tuesday (Nov. 17) at 10 a.m. to carpool to the Whistler Bungee to Brandywine Falls. For more information on this ambitious group of hikers, please call Heather at 640-892-9003.

The ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappFood Bank will open its doors on Wednesday (Nov. 18) from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Alano Club on Third Avenue for grocery distribution.

Those interested in attending The Healthy Brain Program are invited to the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappPublic Library on Tuesday (Nov. 17) from 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This program is sponsored by the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappLibrary and the Vancouver Coastal Health and is free of charge. Birthdays at Hilltop House will be celebrated this month on Wednesday (Nov. 18) at 2 p.m. when Jim Mackin, Doreen Hyland, Thelma MacDonald, Brenda Karmel and Thelma Whitfield will be honoured.

Seniors in our community planning to attend the annual Christmas Banquet at the Sea to Sky Hotel on Friday, Dec. 4 at 5:35 p.m. are advised to pick up tickets soon as they are going fast! The ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappPublic Library and Quest University invites residents to the third instalment of the popular free public lecture series. It will be held in the library on Thursday (Nov. 19) from 7 to 8 p.m. Dr. Eric Gorham, Co-ordinator of Social Sciences, Quest University Canada presents: "Walking from New Orleans: Katrina and its Aftermath."

ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappBranch No. 70 Senior Citizens Association is planning a trip to the Burnaby Heritage Park on Wednesday, Dec. 2 to view the park all decked out for Christmas. Royal Canadian Legion Branch #277 invites everyone to Bingo Night on Monday (Nov. 16) with doors open at 5:30 p.m.

Between Shifts Theatre is pleased to be presenting the musical pantomime Sleeping Beauty at the Eagle Eye Theatre on the weekends of Nov 26 to 28 and Dec. 3 to 5. Show times are 7:30 p.m. each night and matinees on Saturdays at 2 p.m. Tickets are available at Billie's Bouquet and the Adventure Centre at $15 adults and seniors and students $10.

The Eagle Watch Volunteer Interpreters' Program invites individuals, groups or families to get involved as part of the community of volunteers. Volunteers work three 3-hour shifts during the season. Volunteer Training Day is Saturday, Nov. 28 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon and on site during their first shifts. Newcomers to ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappare invited to become a part of Eagle Watch.
