COQUITLAM, B.C. — Police are on the lookout after a large concrete sculpture of a bear weighing about 45 kilograms was stolen from a porch of a home in Port Coquitlam, B.C. Mounties say the sculpture owner called police on Jan.

Police say the metre-tall sculpture was on the porch of a Port Coquitlam house when someone took the concrete artwork on Jan. 11, 2025.

Twenty-one people were left without homes after the blaze, which may have started in a kitchen.

This weekend's cold snap comes a year after wind-chill temperatures plummeted to -20 C in Metro Vancouver and as low as -50 C in other parts of the province.

“This is a tragic homicide that has had a huge impact on our community, including the investigators who have been working tirelessly to advance this case," IHIT stated this week.

Chelsea Poorman, 24, was a member of the Kawacatoose First Nation and was found dead in April 2022. She was reported missing in September 2020.
