Firefighters are heading to an out-of-control wildfire burning on the Sunshine Coast.
The wildfire is small in size, estimated at less than a hectare and roughly 19 kilometres west of Sechelt.
BC Wildfire Service says the wildfire was first discovered at 8:33 p.m. on Tuesday and the cause of the fire is still under investigation.
The wildfire was first spotted near Homesite Creek beside the Suncoaster Trail.
One initial attack crew is responding to the wildfire from the BC Wildfire Service.
Josh Martens was fishing off Epsom Point and watched the wildfire grow until about 9:30 p.m.
A witness posted a photograph to social media at 8:51 p.m. showing a plume of smoke coming from the hillside.
Rainfall is expected overnight on Tuesday.
An out-of-control wildfire is one that is spreading or anticipated to spread beyond the current perimeter or control line.
