Moberg, Verner and Heisterman on podium at Nimby 50

Trio of ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵappracers excel at annual Pemberton-based event

They couldn’t grab the top spot, but a handful of ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵappriders made an impact at the annual Nimby 50 race in Pemberton on Saturday, May 30.

Abbotsford’s Ricky Federau (2:15:28) grabbed the top spot in the pro male division at the 37-km race but the other podium spots belonged to ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵappracers.

Quinn Moberg (2:19:28.1) captured second at the event and Rhys Verner (2:19:28.4) placed third. Verner, still a junior rider, also had the top time in the male 14 to 19 age group division. Squamish’s Greg Day (2:22:06) also had a solid showing and placed sixth overall.

Just over half an hour behind his brother was Hunter Verner, who finished third overall in the male 14 to 19 age division.

ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵappalso represented in the pro division with Brandi Heisterman finishing third overall. Heisterman, racing in her first cycling event of 2015, posted a time of 2:50:30. Stacey Smith and Amanda Sin placed first and second respectively in the division.

The next big local race on the calendar for most of the racers is the legendary Test of Metal on June 20. The 67-km course features more than 1,200 metres of climbing and 35 km of singletrack action. Approximately 1,000 racers are again set to participate.
