It was a double gold start to 2015 for ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappbiathlete Hunter Sones.
Sones dominated the Senior Boys division at BC Cup #1 in Quesnel on Jan. 3 and 4, winning his division in both the 7.5 km individual race and the 6 km sprint race.
He beat the second place competitor by 2:44 at the individual race on Jan. 3 and followed that up by edging out the second place racer by 22 seconds on the sprint on Jan. 4.
Sones competed against 11 of the best in his division in temperatures as low as -20C at both races.
He has now captured three gold medals and one bronze in the four Nationals qualifying races this season.
Next up for Sones is BC Cup #2 at Whistler Olympic Park on Jan. 24 and 25. He then heads to Vanderhoof for BC Cup #3 on Feb. 28. His ultimate goal is to qualify and have a good showing at the National Championships in Hinton, Alta. in March.Â
