Ƶappcomes second at soccerfest
The ƵappThunder fought hard against The Shockers, but ended up losing 2-1 after taking the game to a penalty shoot for the men’s open title.
Coming in third place was France FC.
In the men’s over-30, Corona made first place followed by Shaheen at second and SC United at third.
The Fulcrums dominated the ladies’ open rec, followed by Westside coming in second. Manyu took the bronze.
Metro Ford Royals took first in the ladies’ over-30 rec, with the Aldergrove Saints placing second. PCOV took third place.
Cross country biking
Team Ƶappathletes Holden Jones, Nick Kleban and Kailin Shackleton travelled to California to compete in two races, Fontana and Bonelli.
Jones placed second in Bonelli.
However, the team is not yet finished.
Next up for the local racers is the Junkyard Dog in White Rock as part of BC Cup Series.
Sorca opens new trail
Much manpower and effort went into the making of Leave of Absence, which opened on Tuesday.
About 120 volunteers put in more than 1,600 hours to construct the route.
The trail opening kicks off SORCA’s 25th year anniversary season.
“We all owe Rob Phoenix a huge thank you for making this happen,” the ƵappOff -Road Cycling Association posted on its Facebook page.
Axemen bury the hatchet
The ƵappAxemen Rugby team bested the Chilliwack Crusaders in a 34-13 win on Saturday, continuing their undefeated streak this season.
The Axemen started out strongly from the onset, scoring three unanswered tries before the Crusaders were able to score a try. The Axemen responded by keeping the Crusaders on the back foot, quickly scoring another try to lead by 22-8 at half-time.
