The Chief would like to add that ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappresident Zoe Dawson earned third place in the female elite category at the Sp’ak’wus 50.
With a time of three hours, 17 minutes and 32 seconds, Dawson managed to get the bronze after racing against seven other opponents in her division.
Dawson also competed in the Nimby 50 a few weeks earlier, and had the same results, also placing third.Ìý
In previous years, Dawson has placed well at the Test of Metal, won the JABR, won the ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappTriathlon, won the Redbull 400, won the Loop of the Lakes, Shannon Basin, and Sea to Summit running races, the Victoria Xterra, among other things. Ìý
She has also been selected to represent Canada this year at the Penticton World Championship ITU Triathlon in August.
Coming in first place among the female elites was Nanaimo resident Carey Mark with a time of three hours, 12 minutes and nine seconds. In second was Mical Dyck of Victoria with a time of three hours, 14 minutes and 50 seconds.
The Chief regrets the omissions.

Gold and silver for squamish riders
ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappriders took the podium over the weekend during the BC Championship Cross Country Mountain Bike race, which was the final event in the Canada Cup’s cross country series for the year.Holden Jones placed first in the under-19 expert men category with a time of one hour, 12 minutes and 13 seconds.
Trailing just minutes behind him in the same race was Nick Kleban with a time of one hour, 14 minutes and 50 seconds.
The two ÃÛÌÒÊÓÆµappriders beat out four other competitors in their category.
Ben Dickson placed third in the under-13 male youth category.
Elly Hoskin took fourth place in the under-15 female youth category and Sienna Dickson was just behind her in fifth.
