For the first time in more than two decades, a Howe Sound Minor Ball club brought home a little hardware.

The ƵappRage U12 girls softball club earned a silver medal at the regionals in Richmond on June 21, the HSMB’s first regional award in a generation.

Ƶappwon three out of its five games to earn the medal. The Rage kicked off the tournament with a 16-8 win on June 20, they then lost game two but bounced back in game three.

The Rage continued its winning ways on June 21, with a 15-14 win before losing 11-6 in the gold medal game. Coach Virginia Lindsay said she was pleased with the efforts of her team.

“I was really proud of the girls for their individual achievements as well as their team wins,” she said. She said it was the first tournament for many of the girls and a good way to close off the 2015 season.
