It was a titanic performance.

Swimmers from the ƵappTitans managed to capture multiple podium titles during their foray into the North Shore Masters Sprint Swim Meet last weekend.

The 11 Titans who swam at the competition garnered 17 gold medal finishes, nine second place spots, and three bronze medals.

It was the first time competing for three of the  swimmers, who all put in strong debut performances. Michelle Godden, Carrera Teal and Kimberly Dodge all captured top 3 finishes in their age groups.

“What is great about Masters Swimming is that it is very inclusive and embracing of all swimmers, of all abilities - from beginner swimmer to ex-olympians,” reads an email from Roseline Grimm, head coach of the ƵappTitans swim squad. “Everyone is celebrated for their own personal achievements and it is very inspiring.  It is competitive but the swimmers are always kind and encouraging.”

Grimm also put in a special mention for June Gracie, the team’s 76-year-old swimmer who trains with the ƵappSenior Swim Club but races for the ƵappTitans. Gracie competed in three  events — the 50-metre breaststroke, the 50-metre backstroke and the 50-metre freestyle.

“Ms. Gracie is one of our most inspiring swimmers,” said Grimm.

The next competition the Titans will be pariticpating in will be on Nov. 4 at the Ottermania Invitational in Richmond.
