It’s not quite a post-apocalyptic world with zombies, but Brennan Park will be the closest thing to it on May 30.
The Blocking Dead event marks the home bout debut for the Sea to Sky Sirens when they host arch rival the Black Diamond Betties from Whistler.
The two roller derby teams met earlier this year at the Whistler Ski and Snowboard Festival, with the Betties posting a narrow 159-158 win on April 11.
The Sirens trailed by 22 points at half but battled back to close the gap, ultimately coming up short. It’s the third time the two teams have met at the festival, with the Betties winning each bout.
But Brennan Park Arena has always been a different story for the Sirens. The two clubs met in ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵappback on July 5, with the Sirens besting the Betties 178-145.
Doors open for the bout at 6 p.m., with the first whistle being blown at 7 p.m.
Tickets are available in advance at Naked Lunch, Galileo Coffee, the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵappAdventure Centre and online at www.brownpapertickets.com.
The event features a beer garden, and Match Eatery and Public House is hosting the official after party.
