For the first time ever, the Test of Metal mountain bike race is teaming up with a Squamish-based trail race.
The new Run ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵapptrail running series and Test of Metal organizers announced the partnership in a press release on Monday, May 11.
The two groups will combine results from the Test of Metal race on June 20 and the inaugural Sea to Sky Scramble trail running race on June 27. The winner will be crowned the ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵappMountain Champion of 2015.
The first-ever ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵappMountain Family Competition will crown the top male, top female and a young boy and girl. Youth racers must participate in both the Mini-Metal and the Mini-Scramble.
The lowest male and female combined times earn prizes from dozens of local businesses. The youth winner will be a random draw amongst all competitors who do both the mini races.
The Test of Metal, which is celebrating its 20th year in 2015, is a 67-kilometre course with over 1,200 metres of climbing and 35 km of single track. The event draws 1,000 riders to the trails every year.
The Sea to Sky Scramble is a new race that is part of the Run ÃÛÌÒÊÓƵappseries and consists of a 6-km trail run with an overall ascent of 1,000 m.
